About Cheryl

Never give up on anyone, regardless of their age

That’s the philosophy Cheryl adopted as a student nurse, and it has guided more than 30 years of caring for patients.

A nurse who always ended up advocating

Cheryl is a registered nurse, a graduate of Crouse-Irving Memorial School of Nursing, with a BSN from Excelsior College. Over more than 30 years she has worked in the health insurance industry, disease management, physician office management, short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing care.

In 1996 she started a preventive health company that grew into disease management and education programs. She prepared clients for physician appointments, went with them when needed, explored their options, made sure they understood their condition and kept their families informed. She also served as a healthcare surrogate. In every role, she found herself advocating for the patient, at the bedside, on the phone and online.

Quality of life, dignity and respecting each patient’s wishes have guided her work from the start.

Why she started Baby Boom Health

In 2013 Cheryl took family medical leave to care for her parents at the end of their lives. Her father was a retired physician and her mother a retired nurse. Even with her medical background, she had to navigate the healthcare maze for them.

She listened to what her parents wanted and advocated for them until the end. She kept them in their own home and arranged the community resources that kept them safe and comfortable. Living the caregiver’s side firsthand is what led her to start Baby Boom Health: to be the helping hand for patients and caregivers, and to advocate for them until the end.
